We’re excited to announce the 19th release in our SOUNDS DELICIOUS series: White Bike’s cover of The Postal Service’s classic album Give Up.
The Portland-based band is brought to you in part by the same husband and wife duo that made up Tango Alpha Tango, Nathan Trueb and Mirabai Carter, alongside lead vocalist Arianna Anchustegui and drummer Robin Levy.
The band took Jimmy Tamborello and Ben Gibbard’s Postal Service songs and bent them to the will of a female-lead rock n’ roll group that leans on gritty guitar pop, rather than the glitchy electronic synthpop of the original. Although White Bike stayed close to the arrangements of the original record they weren’t shy about reharmonization, changing feels or tempos, and switching up instrumentation altogether. It’s a joy to hear these songs in a new light on the 20th anniversary of the original release of Give Up back in 2003 by a band who grew up with these songs as the soundtrack to their childhood and teenage years.
White Bike’s cover of The Postal Service’s Give Up is only available by subscribing to our SOUNDS DELICIOUS vinyl record club. In addition to a deluxe edition for members who have been with us for at least 12 months, it’s available on milky clear colored vinyl for members and gift orders of 6-months or more.
As always, each copy comes packaged with an MP3 digital download of the album. It’s also limited edition and more than half of the copies sold out before we even had a chance to make this announcement – so you might want to act fast!
