A few months ago, we shared some peeks inside our home with you. Specifically, we showed you the room where we probably spend 50% of our time and where a lot of our food photos are shot: our dining room. As you can imagine, the other room that gets the most use from us is our living room. Once again, we teamed up with our friends at Rejuvenation to help us add those special touches we needed to make the room feel ‘complete.’ Let me add that moving our record collection from San Francisco to Seattle was no small feat, and the records you see here aren’t even all the ones we own.
We couldn’t wait to arrange our living room in a way that would make it optimal for listening to music, having a glass of wine or a beer, and cozying up by the fireplace. Again, we took advantage of working with Rejuvenation’s design consultant, Erin, to help us come up with some ideas to bring plenty of light and personality into the room.
One of the first things we really wanted was a shelf to display records that are in heavy rotation on the turntable (check out our guide to the 5 best turntables here). Erin brilliantly recommended the Salvaged Douglas Fir Shelf and accompanying unlacquered brass brackets. We mounted it above our record collection so that we could display whatever record we are listening to, and a few other knick knacks (notably, camera lenses for my Nikon D90). The shelf is slightly imperfect, which makes it feel that much more loved.
Erin also recommended adding a small, soft light source in the corner of the room where our record player is, and we fell in love hard with the Aurora Table Lamp which is, sadly, no longer available. It adds a shimmery glow in the evenings.
Our other big ask was a light source by the fireplace. Our living room doesn’t have any built-in lighting so we wanted to strategically place some floor lamps in various corners of the room. The Cylinder Task Floor Lamp really completed my favorite living room nook, where I often cuddle up on the leather chair. It’s truly my favorite spot, both morning and night. The lamp is great for reading, but also as a light source that doesn’t feel too blingy, but rather elegant and simple. Plus, we loved all the brass accents throughout the room.
As you can see, many of our favorite cookbooks can be found in every corner and on every surface in our living room.
The beautiful art behind our couch is from our friends at Minted. I love how the copper frame plays off the copper accent on our fireplace. Our living room rug is from West Elm (on sale!).
If you’re wondering what happened to our beloved turntable, it’s still around! We just decided to move it to our downstairs media room. For now, our Gramovox sits at the helm. We scored the vintage Marantz amp on eBay though you can also find some on Amazon.
Thank you so much to our friends at Rejuvenation for helping us complete our living room!
