Please welcome our newest contributor, Shelly West, to Turntable Kitchen! Shelly pens the award-nominated food blog Vegetarian Ventures, and by day works for a music distributor called Secretly Canadian Distribution.
In this new series where we take you on photo adventures to record shops, venues, and labels, it felt only appropriate that I start with my hometown shop. Landlocked Music is located in Bloomington, Indiana and it’s where I first started buying records in college and have never stopped years later.
Landlocked sells an array of new and used vinyl, cds, tapes, magazines, and even a handful of music DVDs. They are also your one-stop music center in Bloomington with tickets available to purchase for all the local music venues and they have a whiteboard that displays all of the shows taking place that month.
They also host an array of music events which consist of frequent in-store performances by both touring and local acts and monthly ‘Sunny Side Up’ listening parties which consist of listening to a handful of records before they are released and enjoying locally brewed drip coffee.
