Donovan Blanc, the project of duo Joseph Black and Raymond Schwab, may be recording their jams in New Jersey, but their debut single “Minha Menina” exudes a sepia-tinted warmth that would have been right at home wafting through the alleys of Sao Paulo in the 1970s. Indeed, there is a certain timelessness to the lush, but muted melody they’ve constructed from threads of sparkling guitar, hushed percussion, and that particularly bubbly bassline. Take a listen.
You can pre-order the LP from Insound. It’s out on June 24th from Captured Tracks.
