We’ve been listening to this debut single from Brooklyn up-and-comer RÉN (a.k.a. Renée Orshan) on repeat since it showed up in our inbox this morning. After all, “Time” has a slick, smooth groove to it thanks to the rubbery bass riff and tight, bouncing beat that accompanies Orshan as she sings bright-eyed and optimistically about taking chances on a budding romance, “And if you want me too / I’d say’s it worth it to do.”
She says of her songwriting inspiration: “My favorite artists are all over the spectrum when it comes to sound. The Beatles will make you dance, make you think, make you smile, and make you cry. I want to do that!”
A debut EP is slated for next year, but we can expect a few more tastes of what to expect in the not-so-distant future.
