Breakups aren’t like they are in the movies. There are very rarely slammed doors or screaming matches in fancy restaurants. More often, they’re a series of awkward and barely-spoken messages of shifting uncertainty until at least one person’s heart breaks. SALES, a Florida-based duo that just put out its debut EP on Monday, tells that story in quite possibly the most perfect way ever.
In “getting it on,” Lauren Morgan’s vocals are beautiful and charming; yearning, sad and sweet all at the same time. However, the fretwork is really the standout champ—their hypnotizing guitar melodies are so dense and lovely that it feels like being cradled in a hammock. It may not be enough to cure heartbreak, but rest assured SALES knows how you feel.
