Scott Hansen, the founder of ISO50, is arguably one of the world’s most engaging graphic designers. His warmly minimal style is clean, nostalgic, and aesthetically pleasing. Yet, while he’s already known in many creative circles for his design, he’s quickly building an equally dedicated following as a musician recording under the moniker Tycho. His 2011 LP “Dive” was beautifully ambient and built upon dust-blown synths and distantly shimmering guitar riffs. Meanwhile, at a time when many similarly minded artists are eschewing guitars for synths, Hansen’s latest single “Awake” finds him bucking the trend and bringing guitars to the forefront of his compositions to lovely results. It’s the first single from his upcoming full length due in 2014.
