The third LP by Staten Island’s The Budos Band is a psyched-out and funky Afro-pop jazz joint that sounds like it could have been hoisted from the soundtrack to a 1970’s blaxploitation film (or contemporary Tarantino flick for that matter). The album’s first single “Unbroken, Unshaken” is a grizzly, horn-fueled jam with a huge swing. It’s damn good. Throw the top down and blast this one on a joyride through Death Valley.
