L.A. based 3 1/2‘s debut EP, First Recordings, has been hitting all the right notes for me. Blending perfect amounts of rock ‘n roll swagger with growling melodies, they make garage pop that you can feel in your gut. “Green Leaf” is a standout with its rubbery, bassline anchored melody folded into a pounding, drum-crashing rhythm. It is a prime example of why this EP gets stuck in my head for days at a time. If you need just a little more convincing, check out the brooding, psychedelic garage rocker “Branches.”
