I recently featured Wick-It The Instigator’s most recent album – The Brothers of Dusty Chico (a mash up of The Black Keys’ Brothers and Big Boi’s Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Dusty Chico) – and if you haven’t checked that out yet, you should do so now. It is ridiculously fun.
And you better hide your kids and hide your wife because it turns out that The Brothers of Dusty Chico was hardly Wick-It The Instigator’s first album of awesome mash-ups. In fact, the dude might actually be one of the best in the whole mash-up game. And if The Brothers of Dusty Chico wasn’t evidence enough, I present as Exhibit Number 2: Mashville 3 Year Anniversary Album. There are all sorts of unique, savory bits in this stew including chops from the Beastie Boys, the Wu Tang Clan, Modest Mouse, Nas, Kid Cudi, Beck, and even a surprisingly listenable take on the “Bed Intruder Song.” So you can run and tell that homeboy. Download the album from bandcamp.
