You know how MTV used to run music video marathons over the course of a weekend just because they had nothing else to air? You remember, back before they had re-runs of shrill teen based reality-TV like the Hills and Sweet Sixteen. Well, I’m bringing back the idea of a music video marathon (that is, if you can call 4 video posts in a row a music marathon). After all, by my estimation that means I’ll have hosted 4 more full-length music videos than MTV will all month.
First up we have the very normal, not-at-all-weird, video for Yeasayer’s awesome Musical Pairings approved single “O.N.E.” Well, its normal if you think that shape-shifting lowlifes hanging out with hipsters in neon-colored clothes at a night-club/casino modeled after a 1980’s conception of “futuristic” and listening to a band playing bright-neon colored pseudo-instruments is normal. If that isn’t your idea of normal, it may actually be one of the strangest video you’ll see all year.
My favorite part is definitely the light-up keyboard that looks like it could have been an advanced prototype for a new version of Simon Says. I’d love to hear about your favorite part.
