People who know me, know that I am fond of making mixtapes, playlists, etc. If I have been friends with you in the past 12 years or thereabouts – there is a good chance that I’ve made you a mixtape at some point. And now that I’m starting to get to know our readers, I decided it was time to make a mixtape for Musical Pairings. We’ll call it Volume 1.
For the first mixtape, I’ve decided to cast a wide net. I think I can confidently say that I cover a lot of musical ground here: Cajun funk, Motown-era R&B, turntablism, mash-ups, indie rock, hip hop, Argentinian rock, ethiopiques, dance, punk and some good old fashioned rock n’ roll. Nonetheless, I think I manage to keep it sounding relatively cohesive. Although I know not every song on here will be well liked by everyone – I hope you generally enjoy the entire mix. The tracks have been provided individually (UPDATE – most of the indvidual tracks have been removed by request), and as a .zip file. If you hear something that you like, please leave me a comment to let me know!
Musical Pairings @ eating/sf, Mixtape Vol. 1 – .ZIP (right click and “save as”) Update: Sorry, this one is long gone.
Some of the tracks you’ll find:
