I recently discovered the first three tracks released by St. Louis’ Mark White who records under the nom de plume I Was a Fountain (thanks to Laurent at Pasta Primavera). The tunes are morning-lit, sonically-rich experiments in sample-accented folk-pop featuring layered-vocals, crisp textured ambiance and damp percussion. It was love at first listen. I emailed Mark who said that he hopes to release approximately 3 tracks every month (with 3 more already primed for release this month), and that he has no plans for a full-length or physical release of the material.
